Obituary of Laurent Poirier

Peacefully from a broken heart, while surrounded by family at Glengarry Memorial Hospital on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at the age of 85. Welcomed home by his beloved wife of over 61 years, the late Yolande Poirier (née Hurtubise). Loving father of Francine Leblanc (Leo) of Alexandria, Paulette Poirier (David McPherson and the late Ken Carlton) of South Lancaster, Louyse Poirier (Gary McCool) of Florida, Luc Poirier (Bev) of Alexandria, Jean Poirier (Joanne) of Gatineau. Proud grandfather of Daniel and Christian Leblanc (Nancy), Julia and Thomas Carlton, Samantha and Lauren McCool, Matthew Poirier and Jodie Poirier Walmsley (Christopher), and Justin Poirier. Great-Grandfather to Isabelle and Chloé Leblanc, and Élodie Walmsley. Dear brother of Bernard Poirier (Lise and the late Jeannine), Paul Poirier (Monique), Monique Séguin (late Fernand), Odette Penna (Pavro and the late Buddy Wilton) and Nicole Bourgon (Claude). Predeceased by his parents, Edouard and Cécile (nee Goulet) Poirier, his brothers, Rev. Fr. Claude Poirier, Roch Poirier (Madeleine and the late Nancy), his sisters, Yolande Poirier and Jeannine Ménard (late Jean-Yves). Family and friends are requested to gather at the Salon Funéraire Glengarry Funeral Home, 580 Main St. S., Alexandria, (613) 525-3400 on Saturday, April 2, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Église Sacré-Coeur, Alexandria on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 11 am. A reception following the Funeral Mass will be held in the Reception Centre of the Funeral Home from 12 noon to 2 p.m. In memory of Laurent, donations made directly to the Hopital Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
